about

Written during the Covid Quarantine 2020... Isolated and alone, Michael D'Orazio suffered lonely nights in his apartment, in a dimly lit kitchen smoking cigarettes, trying to get his mind off the horrible feeling he had inside....it was in early May he came up with the first two tracks..."Somber Night's Blues", and "Where Can I Go/Where Can I Hide"... before coming up with a new name for his project...Tired of his real name, he first came up with "Mark Cavern & the Doom Ensemble", then "Mark Geist", but then settled on "The Mitch Gespenst Doom Factory"... "Gespenst", meaning "Ghost, Ghoul, Shadow, Wrath"... "Mitch" was a name given to him by an old friend...and "Doom Factory" was borrowed from a Doom Jazz genre...

Mitch Gespenst's first contribution, "These Uncertain Times", was not written to be uplifting, but more to illustrate how Michael felt during the Covid Shutdown. Folky In it's interpretation, it takes melancholy to a whole new level of sadness, and desparation...
